PM Modi Inaugurates World’s Longest Twin-lane Sela Tunnel in Arunachal Pradesh

A monumental engineering feat has been achieved with the inauguration of the Sela Tunnel in Arunachal Pradesh by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This groundbreaking project, constructed using the innovative Australian tunneling method, comes at a cost of ₹825 crore. Designed to accommodate a traffic density of 3000 cars and 2000 trucks per day, the tunnel is set to revolutionize connectivity in the region.

The foundation stone for the Sela Project was laid by PM Modi on 9th February 2019, marking a significant milestone in India’s infrastructure development. Situated at an awe-inspiring elevation of 13,000 feet in Arunachal Pradesh, the tunnel is strategically positioned near the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

With its completion, the Sela Tunnel will significantly reduce travel time and ensure all-weather connectivity to the remote regions of Arunachal Pradesh. Furthermore, it is poised to enhance the accessibility and security of the region, particularly in areas close to the LAC.

The inauguration of the Sela Tunnel marks a triumph in India’s infrastructure endeavors, showcasing the nation’s commitment to progress and development even in the most challenging terrains.
